“Interpreting the joy of living through painting is meaningful to me. I am moved to paint people, nature, still life, and landscapes as a part of everyday life.” -Sandy De Lopez

On Friday, September 4 we hope you will swing by KitchenAble and say hello as we celebrate First Friday!  From 6pm until 9pm we  will offer complementary refreshments and have special guest artist Sandy De Lopez.  Her beautiful paintings will be on display at our cottage and available for purchase.

Sandy DeLopez was born in Chicago, grew up in the Atlanta area, then moved to Germany.  She has called Tallahassee home since 1974.  At Emory University, she studied art history, and then spent hours and days touring all the major European art museums while living in Germany.  After her personal Renaissance in 2008, Sandy began painting with a passion.

Sandy’s work has been shown at the Gadsden Arts Center; FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts; Pond LiliesTallahassee Community College; Tallahassee City Hall; the Marvin Cook Studio; the FSU College of Medicine;  Lemoyne; 1020 Art Gallery; Tallahassee Senior Center; Brokaw McDougall House; Radiology Associates; at a Tallahassee Symphony performance; Forest Meadows Tennis Center; and several local restaurants.  She has won various awards in juried exhibitions.  Her work is also going to be featured September through November, 2015 in the gallery on the 22nd floor of the Florida Capitol.

Sandy encourages everyone to take the plunge and indulge themselves in art. “Start with any medium: drawing, photography, painting, or sculpture.  Appreciating or producing art is what defines us and connects us as humans.  What we loved naturally as children can be revived in our adult lives.”
