summer camp 1Our summer camp sessions will be from 10:00am until 3:00pm and will include a large meal prepared during camp each day.  Total cost for week of camp is $200 (this $50 deposit plus remaining balance of $150 due by July 1).

cooking camp 3A broad range of topics will be taught that include:  kitchen safety, basic kitchen skills, basic knife skills, menu planning, nutrition, the science of baking, how to understand (and follow) a recipe, and proper dish washing techniques.

 

Menu for the week of July 11-15 will be:

Monday- Breakfast.  We will make our own pancake mix and Pancakes, Fresh fruit, Bacon, and Oatmeal yogurt parfaits

Tuesday-Mexican.  We will prepare Quesadillas, Salsa, Queso dip, Spanish Rice, and a Special dessert.

Wednesday- French Favorite with a mixed green salad, Herb Roasted Chicken, Potatoes au Gratin and Lemon Crepes for dessert (Weather permitting class will conclude with a walking tour of the Lake Ella Farmer’s Market)

Thursday- Farmer’s Market Fresh Flavor- we will prepare fresh local vegetables with cooking camp 4a menu that includes: Roasted green beans, Sweet potato biscuits, Corn Pudding, and Herb Roasted Chicken.

Friday- Pasta and Marinara, we will pick fresh herbs from out garden and use them to make Marinara and Focaccia bread.  We will also crank our own pasta and make Caesar Salad.

Camp will be “hands-on” and has a limited number of participants.  The non-refundable deposit of $50 will reserve a space in camp for one child.  The balance of $150 per participant for the remaining camp fee and necessary paperwork are due by July 1st.  Campers will receive an apron, recipe packet, certificate of completion, and a set of measuring tools that they will take home at the end of their week.

Participants must be 6 years or older and will be expected to conduct themselves appropriately during participation.  In addition to fun with food, we will discuss health and nutrition.  Please be aware that children who attend this program will be expected to taste at least one small bite of all we prepare- unless they have a food allergy. (Parents, thank you for supporting this policy.)

Experienced and older campers can apply to be a kitchen assistant for the week.
